I wouldn't call 2 of 3 the dagger, they would still be alive for the wild card. Another sweep would be devastating for the Red Sox, and it would make it worse if Texas sweeped the Rays over the weekend, giving them a 2-game lead over the Sox. If the Yanks take 2 of 3, the Yanks would be 7.5 games ahead of the Sox, a number that was met earlier this week.

It'd be a dagger because theres no way they're coming back from 7.5 out... sorry.

Pettite-Penny was probably one of the easiest things I've ever tried to say 5 times fast.

It wouldn't be a dagger to the Red Sox season, which I believe is what he meant. The dagger would be killing them beyond belief and virtually eliminating them from playoff contention. There is always a possibility of a comeback, and all baseball fans should know that.

I'd be very happy to take 2 out of 3. Even with 1, I'd be meh. As long as we don't get swept and let Boston come right back into things, I'll be happy. Should be a good series. It will be tough to win the series in Fenway, but we can do it.

Yankees are unstoppable. Red Sox can't beat them or even compete with them anymore. 7.5 games back, they need to focus on them Rangers now.

I don't see the Sox missing the playoffs. I'll take them over the Rangers anyday. I'm not so sure if the Rangers will just fall off the face of the earth, but it could very well happen.

I had other commitments tonight so I missed the game. But when I saw the score, I wished I hadn't missed it.
