In August we go to Fenway, Yankee Stadium and The Hump Dome.
People on like White Sox Interactive need to calm down. Beating shit teams doesn't mean we're going to the playoffs. |

I'm more interested in guys like Beckham doing well for the sake of the future, because I do believe our future is very bright. |

I'm not getting excited until we show ALOT more consistency.
We did this earlier in the season then we went on another skid. I hope they prove me wrong, but i'm not counting on it. This roster as is, still stands poorly constructed. Contenders don't trot out shit like Anderson/Wise in CF. All of the AL contenders have legit CFer's. We don't. |

If we're winning when the meat of the schedule gets here, that's when I get excited. |

Beckman is sure learning to hit major league pitching lately.

Yup, he is definitely adjusting, and it doesn't just look like a hot streak, he's consistently hitting the ball up the middle and line drives into the gaps. Like Hawk said, when pitchers start to realize this and start pitching him in, that's when he is going to hit more HR's. His numbers after last nights game: .267/.353/.387 20-75 3 2B 2 HR 13 RBI 11 R 9 BB (10.7 BB%) 13 K 17.3 K%) 1-4 SB and about league average defense. I think he has done pretty well at 3B for how fast he rose through the system and how little time he had to learn/adjust on how to play 3B and is now doing so at the major league level. 3B may be the hardest position to play besides catcher, so I think he has been doing a very nice job, especially after his first few games. |

For as well as we're playing we gained a whopping 2 games.
Still 4 games back. It's nice to be excited, but the kool aid needs to be put down. Teeing off on the Indians isn't that impressive. Every team has been teeing off on their shit pitching. We'll see what we're made of when we play the Red Sox and Yankees on the road. You can call me a negative person towards this team. Because, i'm still not sold on them. Being a game over .500 is nothing to be excited about. There's a reason why i've been to only two games in 3 years. |

It's also nice to have faith =] Being a game over .500 is nothing to be excited about. Well it's better than being 5-6 games under like we were. There's a reason why i've been to only two games in 3 years. And what is that reason? 2008 and 2006 were good years...[/quote] |

RBI Double Getz! That cuts the lead to 9-6 and still bottom of the third.
Update: RBI for Pods now 9-8. |

With the all star break coming up and Richard having been awful for well over a month now, i'd imagine he will be removed from the rotation before his spot comes up again next after the all star break.

That would not shock me at all. I wonder who will take it, if we find Colon he may be an option or maybe Poreda. I really liked what I saw from Poreda today so he would be my first option but the rotation probably suits Colon better than the pen. |

I'd love to see Poreda in the rotation, but I think it's going to be Bart. The club doesn't seem to have faith that Aaron's control is good enough to start him yet, and I can see why they feel that way. |

We need to have a good series this weekend. Baltimore is the last non-playoff contending team we will face until we start a home series against Cleveland on Friday, August 7th, and considerering we lost 2 of 3 at Camden Yards in April, we better not take them lightly.

12-8 Sox now the pitching hasn't impressed me today but Thome's 2 home runs and 7 RBIS make it all ok for now.

Thome's 2nd bomb was just like the one in game 163 last year, just like Hawky said. |

Ballgame, Pena had a solid ninth inning to slam the door shut. Around the division Minny won with Detroit, KC, and Clevland losing.

It was. He actually had a homer just like that early last June (I remember it because I was there), and there is a plaque out there in honor of both home runs as I'm sure you know. It's amazing he's hit the ball into that territory 3 times because nobody else even approaches hitting baseball up there. As for tonight's game, the pitching really was poor, but Baltimore is a very good offense and perhaps we were a bit rusty with the 4 days off. Danks wasn't good, but he fought through and managed to keep us close at least. And it was nice to see our offense crush a bad pitcher we haven't seen before and a bad pitching staff as it should do. Hopefully we have a good weekend, we have a history of hitting Guthrie hard so hopefully that continues, and Bergesen has been pitching quite well but hopefully we can figure him out too. |

A win today, but not exactly our finest hour. We should have scored way more than 4 runs off their starter, who after being very good early including getting out of a bases loaded jam, just completely fell apart after that error they made. Our bullpen was very wobbly again today (although Jenks always sucks against Baltimore), and the fact that we had to cut it that close in holding on for the win wasn't very good. But alas, a win is a win and we're 1.5 out of 1st, the closest we have been since May 3rd. A series win is nice, but with our upcoming schedule, it would be really nice to get the sweep tomorrow.

Tomorrow the Orioles need to break out and win. Guthrie was pushed back a day to pitch tomorrow so whitesoxfan101 you missed Brad Bergesen.

Tomorrow could be more like Friday than today. Guthrie and Contreras both have career ERA's above 5 against their opposition tomorrow, although the weather remains bewilderingly cool here so the ball probably will not be carrying very well. Bergesen's stuff isn't overwhelming, but he is a very smart pitcher (especially for a young guy) and uses his pitches very well, he seems like a solid #3 type starter for a long time for you guys. |
