Yea, he's now 2-20 with the bases loaded in his career through that at bat... Well a solid offensive performance from the Sox as they go on to win 10-7 vs. the dodgers tonight. |

A blow out win turns into a save situation for Jenks.
This team makes winning so god damn difficult. |

We get Billingsley today. Oh joy, this should be fun.
Last night was a true fluke. Just watch. Plus, we got Clayton "Walks Everyone" Richard on the mound. |

With a career minor league line of .293/.357/.528? And then goes on to hit .353 with a .918 OPS in 34 AB's so far? Yea, sounds like a real chump. |

That was a BS call on Pods to end the game, that strike was a good 4-6 inches, like Hawk said, off of the plate.

I was texting several of my Sox fan friends after the game today, and we were just talking about how sad it is when the Sox aren't good. It almost feels like part of the joy of summer here in the midwest is missing when we aren't good. Fortunately, Detroit railled late tonight so we're only 6 out still, but it feels like 36 out with our consistently inconsistent, just under .500 ballclub (although we've been a LITTLE better since the end of that horrible 4-8 homestand to start the month.)
As for the game today, it was what you'd expect when 2 mediocre teams get together. Both teams made some mistakes, missed some chances, and played poorly. Neither team really deserved to win, but somebody had to and today it was the Cubs. I'll guess we split this weekend and end up losing 2 out of 3. |

Great win despite another day of piss poor defense.
Ozzie needs to bench either Ramirez or Getz's ass tomorrow vs Zambozo. Play Nix at either SS or 2B, please. |

Yes, a very good win today. Pods had a great game and Beck hit a walk off. The pitching was a bit shaky after a decent outing by Buerhle. It would have been nice to get and hold the lead for the last few innings but we won and that is all that matters at the end of the day. |

This team could hang in there with Detroit if they ever would stay out of their own way, but at this point I'm not sure if they are capable of doing that, especially on defense. Still a nice win today though, and good to see Bacon come through with the winner. I'm still not sure if he's ready (i'd like to see him pull a few inside fastballs for example), but he's getting closer.

Go figure, Burls shuts Fox down.
Yet, Grandpa Contreras yesterday made him look like Mickey Mantle. |

Beck defiantly is getting closer to where he needs to be. I agree, the team that hit the way they did today could hang with Detroit but I would like to see the pen settle down. The bullpen has been good up to this point but it seems like they are struggling a bit more as of late. Beck is having a tough time at third base but the defense overall is not that good as well. The defense is only going to get worse when Quentin comes back and Pods has to move back to center. |

I hope Quentin gets back soon, but i'm skeptical. As for Beckham, I think he's going to end up at 2nd base eventually. Getz is a nice bench player but he isn't starter material in my opinion, and Beckham is a better fit over there. |

Exactly, Beck will move over eventually but for now he can develop his bat at least while playing third base. The only problem I see is who will take over third. Fields started off the season well and he hit 2 HRs against the Dodgers the other night but I would still rather have Getz in the lineup over Fields. I have been hearing that Quentin may be back after the All Star Break but if we drop much further in the standings then it may be pushed back so he is not rushed at all. |

A lot with this team is going to be decided in the next month (if not less). Potential trades, guys coming back from injuries, who plays where, it should be interesting. |

Wowww, Becks is the ****in man. I was at my parents 25th anniversary party at a pizza restaurant, and in the open part of the place where people come in to eat, they had the game on and a few of my family and parents friend came out to watch it. First pitch, Beck lines one to the gap in RF.

I'm gradually losing patience with Alexei at SS and each time he makes a boneheaded mistake I want to see him moved back to 2B. |

Not a bad game to get the 6-3 win. Floyd pitched very well but the pen gave up 3 in the ninth. Now we are tied for second with Minny, 4.5 back of the Tigers, and at .500.

Bullpen kind of imploded in the 9th, but fortuntely this was a night where we could afford it. Detroit lost tonight out west in Oakland as well, only 4 back and tied for 2nd. Not bad. |
