White House Shutdown

This article is co-written by DaftPunk and rcanofn22.

On Wednesday, April 6th the Obama Administration cautioned that a federal shutdown would greatly hinder the economic recovery, delay our U.S. troops pay who are fighting in 3 wars, along with various other negative effects.

The Federal Government's spending authority runs out in 2 days which has created hopes that it will pressure Republican's in congress to come to a budget compromise. Currently they are trying to come to an agreement so that they can avoid another government shutdown. The previous one was fifteen years ago and lasted about 21 days.

What are all of your thoughts on this possible shutdown?

Kevin
This government shutdown would obviously completely hinder the United States. We are on a slow but somewhat steady incline back to economic recovery, and any more stalls in that would be awful and make citizens more pessimistic. We NEED to come to a compromise in congress so that we can avoid this.

If the government shut down, it means the funding a the state level will slowly deline as well because they will not be receiving any federal money. The public should not notice so much at first, but everyone not deemed 'essential' by the government will be let go. This only furthers the job market into crashing and could lead to and economic depression. The shutdown of the federal government would mean money would stop flowing out of their offices, leaving a lot of people without money they need. There has to be something you can do to prevent a lockout. Go to all costs to make a deal.
