Vargas leads Mariners to first series win

Center fielder Franklin Gutierrez delivered a tiebreaking single to left field in the sixth inning Wednesday night and third baseman Jose Lopez followed with an RBI single to right field, lifting the Mariners to a 4-2 victory over the A's.
