Tennessee Titans draft mindset
During an offseason overhaul of the team, the Tennesee Titans are looking towards the future, pending the lockout, with a very different perspective. There are a lot of needs to fill on the roster through the draft and free agency, which has been on hold with the NFL lockout. During the draft teams will only be allowed to trade pick-for-pick, prohibiting a big part of the draft with players moving on draft day.
The Titans who pick 8th, could go anywhere from a QB or a WR to a Defensive linemen or a cornerback under their new head coach Mike Munchak. Since Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert seem to be going off the board higher than the 8th spot, the Titans would either have to trade up or possibly pick Jake Locker to fill the need at quarterback. Going into last season he was the top QB prospect out of Stanford and could have a great pro career ahead of him. If the Titans go anywhere else on offense it would be the wide receiver position, trying to snag either A.J. Green or Julio Jones. Both guys have amazing speed and big play ability which would be a great compliment to Chris Johnson at running back. Tennessee has plenty of options if they choose to go for a d-linemen because there could be as many as half the first round bein defensive ends or linemen. Nick Fairley, Robert Quinn, and possibly Von Miller are guys that could of interest at the 8th pick. There are two tremendous corner's in this draft that could fit very well in the Titans strong secondary. Patrick Peterson is a natural corner that has the speed and intangibles to be a shutdown corner in the league. Prince Amukamara form Nebraska is also a guy that could excel with his ability to defend the pass and shut down receivers routes. They both could have an immediate impact aside Finnegan. |
