We plan on taking out the turbo charger, selling it, and putting in a new, better one :) (which would be free)

Then on the inside, we're gonna put in an awesome sound system:
Subwoofer (12" Alpine Type-R):

This isn't going to be for a while, but I'm just really excited about it :)

If you are getting that car with a turbocharger... I will be so dissapointed in you if you get an automatic. Waste of a turbocharger if you can't control the RPM's of the engine.

But I like Subaru Impreza WRX's :)

Really, there are manual rental cars in america?? My family always end up with an automatic... but they don't really ask for a manual in the first place, just some cheap ass car.

I started with a 17-18 year old toyota pick up truck... no power steering, difficult clutch (same thing, just harder to not stall) but reliable.... now I'm in a minivan with like a super easy clutch (not super easy, but easy) and the shifting never really gets redundant... I get drowsy in automatics... but the WRX may have a slightly harder clutch for racing reasons--my dad's solstice has a harder clutch... I don't know the reason, but he just said it's a "sporty clutch"

but it's definately worth driving a manual... here's a comparison: a honda civic automatic (not the hybrid, maybe 2008 or 2009 model) gets 28 MPG, while the civic manual gets 31 MPG. In 10 gallons worth of gas, you get almost a free gallon of gas if you drive the manual (30 MPG.) Lighter transmissions work wonders.

When to shift? Really depends on the ratio of the transmission, but usually when it gets 3000-4000 RPM's if you aren't driving aggressively.

LOL Twisted, you don't know how to drive a manual? HAHAHAHA! Even I know how to drive one! :D

I learned like Dizzeler did. On a shitty car that had a difficult clutch, no power steering, nothing lol.

Just wait til you have to stop/start on a hill, and you better not put your e-brake on! ;)

yeah, my parents ordered it from Europe. (not really)

like 98% of the minivans nowadays are automatics in america... more like all cars, actually. the only cars that are manuals here are some sedans such as civics or sports cars like mustangs, solstices, corvettes, or maybe some jeeps and hummers.

but in europe, 95% of the cars are manuals... of the 5%, the automatics consist of smart cars and buses as 90% or so, 10% for other random cars.

Essentially, driving an automatic in Europe is like Lance Armstrong bicycling with training wheels.

I learned how to drive a manual similar to the way you did. I learned on a 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser and 1953 Ford F-100 with a 3 on the tree when I was about 8 :D. I say if you can master those, you can master anything, especially with high gears.

The shifting really depends on the car and gear ratio. For example, I can't go by RPM on that Land Cruiser, so I go by sound. Usually right when the high pitched revving comes around, I shift.

My dad's 1972 Hemi-cuda has the hardest clutch to drive PERIOD. Unfortunately, I can't drive any of our manual cars, as they are on a different insurance company than I am covered on, and that company doesn't allow minors. Hopefully I can convert my 70 Charger to a manual soon, though.
