Are you saying that car is an automatic..?

If so, you can change transmissions? Must be kind of tedious...

Yeah, it's an automatic, but I can live with it for a while. And yes, you can change automatics to manuals and vice versa. For a manual, you have to change the entire transmission, the shifter, and add the clutch pedal, from what I know.

haha! hahaha! hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

(cartman like laugh)

Well that's odd. You have to pay for the transmission change? Manuals are usually about $1,000 less.

Well, that was kind of a stupid question. It's just ironic to pay money to make your car a manual because manual's are generally cheaper cars. I could go on about the advantages of manuals over automatics. (not saying that there aren't a couple advantages to automatics)

Please explain.

( other than saving your 1 gallon of gas per tank that you said earlier. which is like $2 every so often yay)

Count how many trips you take to a gas station for a year, then multiply by yearly average. Turns out to be a couple of benjamins.

Here's something straight from the March 2009 Consumer Reports:
"In past tests, we've found that opting for a manual transmission over an automatic can save you 1 to 2 MPG with the same make and model.
Fuel mileage for the sport-equipped Toyota Corolla we tested in July was as good as some small subcompacts. This month, we test a corolla with a five-speed manual to see if it could beat that.
But the manual corolla doesn't save fuel over the automatic. Both get the same 32 MPG overall. That's still better than any conventionally powered car except for manual versions of the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris. Some hybrids and diesels get better fuel economy but cost more...... Price is the manual Corolla's biggest benefit; at $16,419, it costs $1,985 less than [the] Corolla LE automatic. Acceleration is faster than in the automatic..."

There you go, sir.

You're frigging joking right?

I'm a heavy equipment operator and all the tractors/backhos/trackhos/dozers I drive are stick.

My daily driver is a 5speed.

So now again. BESIDES using gas mileage as the " reason stick is better than automatic" let's hear another reason

And why it's " stupid" to use an auto on a turbo charged application

By the way.

I'm not saying Auto is better than Manual.

I would just like to see your reasons for backing it so much

I wasn't joking, I'm just wondering why you're sort of questioning my reasons...

Gas mileage, base cost, more control of the car, ability to drive in other countries, (my family and I went to greece/italy last winter break and both of our rental cars were manuals) and, of course, entertainment/less redundant.

It's "stupid" to put a turbo charger on an automatic because automatics are heavier overall, and manuals have a faster acceleration. Sure, the turbo charger will make an automatic transmission faster no doubt, it's just more useful on a manual.

1. Manuals have faster acceleration? Mehhh to a point, what about shifting, how many people do you know that can shift faster than an automatic?

Not many.

2. LMFAO...since when does a turbo make a transmission faster? Didnt know transmission moved, and were clocked in miles per hour

I didn't mean the transmission, I was just saying automatic transmission cars.

Dropping the clutch is essentially not for residential areas, which is where I mostly drive around (not to say I don't go on the freeway; when I go to my cousin's or my friend's new house I go on the freeway, you know) and I don't get enough practice to dump it more than so than slipping it.

Also, pistol, I don't care about your questions about my understanding of manuals, I'm just wondering why you're trying to make me look stupid.
