Showalter, Angelos meet for 3 hours
Link
Quote:
Former Yankees, Diamondbacks and Rangers manager Buck Showalter, now an analyst with ESPN, met Wednesday with Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos and club president Andy MacPhail for three hours about their managerial position, Showalter confirmed.
He had no further comment.
Bobby Valentine, who also interviewed for the job, told the Orioles on Wednesday that he was no longer interested in being a candidate. Eric Wedge has interviewed, but is expected to be interviewed again, this time with Angelos in attendance.
The job is currently held by interim manager Juan Samuel, who replaced Dave Trembley when Trembley was fired by the Orioles on June 2. It is unclear whether the Orioles plan to name a replacement this season, or wait until after the season so the new manager can start fresh. MacPhail said the search for a manager could take all season.
