Red Wings Sweep Coyotes
The Detroit Red Wings successfully swept the Phoenix Coyotes in 4 games to be the first team to move on to the next round of the 2011 NHL Playoffs. The Red Wings had what seemed to be complete control of the series while outscoring the Coyotes 18 - 10.
Even without leading scorer Henrik Zetterberg, the Wings managed to tap in at least 4 goals in each game, while having 13 different players score a goal and 16 different players contributing with a point. With the opening round loss to Detroit, the Coyotes have yet to win a playoff series since 1987. The 13 straight series losses is the longest active streak in the NHL. Detroit will move on to play either the San Jose Sharks or the Los Angeles Kings in the next round. Currently that series is lead by the Sharks 2 - 1.
