Recession Recession

OK so we are in a recession right? Many of my friends have been laid off and even the industry I work in Oil and Gas has taken a hit. Banks are not lending out money to just anyone anymore and small businesses are taking a hit unless they are well braced for it. I have even heard that it may be worse then the year of 1986.

Personally I have never worried about the economy too much. Now though it seems that things are going to dry up for a bit and I am thinking it is not going to be pretty. Even my mothers bank she works at has been robbed twice in the last two months.

Unfortunately, the recession has hit my family. My dad was laid off in November of 08 and kind of still is. Fortunately for us we sold our family business (it was a grocery store) and the guy ruined the business and in the contract it said we would receive the business back if he defaulted. We received the store back but it was in terrible condition, my dad was working 15 hour work days and was barely making a dollar. Also at this time my mom was laid off so both my parents had no job and were living off unemployment. Things are turning around now though, my mom has a job again, our store is really picking up and we are even adding in a subway (bank is actually giving money ha). So things are getting better and hopefully my dad is able to get a new job soon and things will be back to normal.

Hopefully I'll never have to witness another recession like this in my life time.

Man Austin that totally sucks man but it looks like things are taking a turn for the good in your family. I hope it all works out. Sounds like your whole family works hard and that makes for a great bond for sure.
