Spanish giants Real Madrid are closely monitoring tricky attacker Robin van Persie, currently under contract with Premier League outfit Arsenal, according to a report in Marca.

The Blancos are in the market for attacking reinforcements due to the expected departure of club legend Raul and newly appointed head coach Jose Mourinho supposedly sees Van Persie as the perfect replacement.

Van Persie has been under contract with Arsenal ever since he joined the Gunners from Feyenoord in the summer of 2004. The forward has made well over 100 Premier League appearances for Arsenal.

However, the Dutch international has yet to win his first league title with the London side and could therefore be tempted to move on in order to win silverware at another club.

The report suggests that Real Madrid are currently preparing a €42.5 million offer for the highly rated attacker.

Van Persie is currently playing at the 2010 World Cup with Netherlands and will lock horns with Brazil in the quarter-finals later today.
Lol Barca first goes for Cesc and then Fabregas tries to bitch his way out and now we have Real Madrid trying to pry Van Persie.

Hilarious how this is roughly the same offer Barca made for Fabregas though.

If that is the same money Barcelona offered for Fabregas, then wow. I don't think Van Persie is that good of a player, and Real are overpaying here - but when do they not overpay, I guess.

I think Van Persie is worth it although they are overpaying just a tad, and Barca was just lowballing Arsenal with shitty offers and hoped eventually Cesc's bitching would get him out but it hasn't worked yet.

Even though Van Persie had a horrible world cup, he's a really solid player. Madrid should make that move
