Montreal win game 6
Coming into game 6 the Boston Bruins had the series lead to 3 games to 2, and this would help motivate the Canadians into winning game 6 against the Bruins.
This was most definitely a do-or-die time for the Canadians, and they played their hearts out! For the Canadians both Mike Cammalleri and Brian Gionta would score goals on 5 on 3 powerplay opportunities for Montreal. This would force a game 7 that is less than 24 hours away from the game that they played. Mike Camalleri is leading the post season with points with a total of 8. Earlier in the first period Gionta however would have a goal taken back from him, the goal was sitting on the side of Tim Thomas and none of the ref's could see the puck. Although Gionta pushed it into the back of the net. Unfortunately for the Habs, the goal would be waived since the puck was unseen for a good three to four seconds. This would upset the Habs fans as they would boo the referees. Gionta eventually would get the goal back though. Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins would get a 5 minute boarding major and a game misconduct in the second period after a hit on Jaroslav Spacek. During the regular season Lucic scored 30 goals and that's after missing a significant amount due to injury. In all fairness, Spacek was turned that way and should expect that being close to the boards. Lucic should had received the 5 minute for boarding, but not the game misconduct. The Boston Bruins are 0-for-18 when it comes to power play opportunities in the series against the Canadians. The talk of this series has been the goaltending. It is a duel between Tim Thomas and Carey Price who are both playing exceptionally well! |
