Email just popped in my box — Marlins said they have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez and two coaches — bench coach Carlos Tosca and hitting coach Jim Presley.

He got a raw deal, the Florida front office should be ashamed but this may allow him to be our manager next season, so I'm fine with it!

Yeah, a below .500 GM is a GREAAAAT one...lol. The whole team knows he wasn't the leader, that role was clearly Uggla. But then again, I wouldn't expect you to have any knowledge of this team.

Good luck with him though, Cox seems to be on Gonzalez's cock so you'll certainly be in the running for his leadership, or lack there of.

His team finished 2nd in a tough NL East last season with a winning record and a team full of kids and 3rd with a winning record and even younger kids in '08, you're right he's a bum!

The NL East was pathetic last year dude...

He's still an under .500 coach for the Marlins in four years, even when they had Miggy.

4 games under .500 you act like he had no success, and the Marlins won't spend any big money he did well with what he had, Fact!

Gammons: expect to see Bobby V. join the Marlins

Peter Gammons' tweets are sometimes hard to read. Are the bits of newsy info or just his gut feeling? He's Gammons, though, so he gets some benefit of the doubt. His latest: "I wouldn't be surprised if Bobby Valentine were in the Marlins dugout by the end of the weekend."

That's not the farthest anyone has ever gone out on a limb, I'll grant you, given that, so far, everyone is just kind of assuming it to be the case. I guess what is most notable about any of it is that no one has thrown cold water on the notion of Bobby V. in Florida, and within 24 hours of that kind of speculation, usually some kind of debunking has happened by now.

The Marlins have never spent money and have still won two championships, you act like they've had no success while maintaining such a low payroll. He knew what he was getting into when he signed, it's not like the Marlins mentality was brought apon him without him knowing about it.

I just prefer the manager to be the leader, hopefully Valentino will be that guy.

Good luck Bobby V, I know you are a good manager but watch out for Hanley the Terd Ramirez, he will not hustle and expect you to let him get away with it and when you don't he will throw classless jabs at you!

lol, that was clearly an issue overblown by Gonzalez - you see Valentine was an actual MLB player, unlike Gonzalez - surely he can relate to Ramirez.

And by the way, Hanley's still better than anyone on the Braves. Or you guys still pissed you lost your NL East streak?

I see "surprisingly" you take the low road like your boy Ramirez, he is better than anyone on a lot of teams but he would never be a Brave, our players have class!

But seriously, good luck with Gonzalez's minor league ass you'll grow to love him (or hate him).
