It was all RDJ but the costume work was impressive and the visuals were a nice modern twist on the old story. The script I agree stale.

The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans

7.5/10

This was a really interesting movie (I think it's a remake), and Nicolas Cage was pretty good. If you enjoyed Nick's performance in LLV you will enjoy him in this movie, he's really good at bringing it in his roles.

It's different/weird and it flew under the radar but I thought it was pretty good you get really into Cage's character.

That movie (and The Weatherman) changed my opinion of Nicolas Cage. He's a paycheck actor, but he has definitely proved himself capable.

I haven't watched anything new in a month. I don't think I've ever had this little motivation to watch movies.

Just watched Blind Side last night, pretty solid movie, I'd give it a 8/10. Micheal Oher is a beast, and Sandra Bullock is fine.

Sandra was almost TOO fine in it. There's no way that woman really wore a dress like Sandra did in the scene where she went looking for Michael.

Watched Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus on Friday (crap), then Julie & Julia, 12:08 East of Bucharest, and Black Narcissus on Saturday. Well actually it was after midnight when I watched Black Narcissus so I guess Sunday.

Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus is so bad that no it is not good, it's just bad. Horrible visual effects, horrible cut transitions, horrible effect where the screen turns black and white in random places, same sets used throughout for different things (submarine and naval ship), horrible acting, etc. 1/10 for me.

Julie & Julia was a decent movie. I don't think Streep deserved an Oscar nom. She was good in it, but nothing great. And I disagree with people that Julia was more interesting. Neither were very interesting, but I thought Julie's character was developed more in the movie and so I actually found her more interesting. The movie is full of flaws, but it is enjoyable. 7/10.

12:08 East of Bucharest is a hilarious Romanian movie. It has some great shots, filled with humor, acted well, and original. Definitely a movie to watch. 9/10.

Black Narcissus is a great movie. This film has great cinematography (one of the best of all time), probably the best film in Technicolor, filled with great acting, and never boring. Definitely check this one out. 10/10

I disagree. Streep went all the way to portray Child. I don't know much about Julia Child in real life, but from many of the older people who are more familiar with Child, they said that Streep didn't just play her, but became her. As Child, I think Streep gave one of the most heart-filled, passoniate, energetic performances of last year. Just my opinion though.

Yeah, like I said, I totally disagree. I did hear/read that she was a lot like the actual Julia Child, but there was nothing in the performance that spelled out "great" for me or worthy of an Oscar nomination. Not saying she wasn't good, because she was good, but nothing about it overly impressed me. Now, the best female performance of last year I think goes to Carey Mulligan for An Education. She made that movie.

Iron Man 2 - 9/10, ****ing amazing
Hurt Locker - 10/10. Honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. There was so much depth to this movie even though it was just a simple concept. Great movie and definitely deserving of best picture.

Brilliantly acted and crafted movie. As someone who absolutely loathes Al Pacino, his performance is ****ing amazing. He literally IS Dr. Kevorkian. If this wasn't an HBO movie, he'd be an Oscar-front runner.

Braveheart:

One of the best movies I have ever seen. Anyone who has not seen it, do so immediately. You will not be disappointed.

You definitely should. I just saw it for the first time, can't believe I waited so long.

It's definitely very black and white. Let's just say Gibson's anti-English sentiment kinda bleeds through in a lot of places. If you're not a stickler on that kinda BS, it's still one of the more entertaining epics out there. Great movie.

Vertigo - 10/10

Stewart gives a wonderful performance. I wasn't totally in love with the first hour of this movie. I thought it was a good, not great first half. But the second half is fantastic. The last hour is truly amazing.

Going to watch Psycho in a bit.

I've never seen it too, I dunno why for some reason I got the feeling that I will not like it. Plus I ain't a big fan of Mel Gibson... So I don't know. Maybe I'll watch it eventually.

Really ??!! I remember the first time that I watched that one I loved it rightaway, I mean I was totally in the movie, totally fascinated. I agree that the second part is even better, obviously, but the first part is great for me too.

Well anyway glad that you liked it, it's my favorite Hitchcok movie personally, I don't know how many times I saw it. And Bernard Herrmann's music is literally amazing, one of my favorite movie themes ever. A masterpiece.

Amazing one as well indeed, my second favorite Hitchcock movie. I also would like to advise to anyone NOT to watch the 99 remake with Vince Vaughn, which is absolutely terrible, it ain't even worth a dog shit. If you want to watch Psycho (everyone should watch it), don't waste your time with this remake piece of shit and watch the true version, the real one, watch Hitchcock's movie which is a pure masterpiece.

I loved this movie. It just oozes noir from start to finish. The gal who played played Anne was ****ing HAWT and good god Orson Welles was awesome. He elevates this movie from great to legendary with just a couple scenes. The chase scene at the end was so good. Great lighting, editing, and camera work.

The Third Man is amazing.

Anyway, saw The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) last night. 9/10, slightly better than the 1934 version. James Stewart is the only reason I would say the remake is better than the original.

Also saw The House of the Devil. 9/10, very good horror movie. Not many movies actually build up suspense and tension like this one. The ending was a bit silly, but overall it was very creepy and the mood and atmosphere were set up very well. Definitely surprised me.
