I don't know, probably because I have no soul :iono:. My sense of humor is pretty twisted....

Really realistic movie about the Italian mob. It's pretty well done. Scorsese being the producer got my eye and it didn't disappoint.

Trying to catch up on the Oscar contenders

Up in the Air-9/10=I thought I was not going to enjoy this but it did very well at balancing the dark subject of the film with some comedy. George Clooney's performance was very overrated though. I can't believe he is getting so much awards attention for just playing himself.

The Messenger-8.5/10=A very well acted and directed film that just got to dark and depressing at times.

An Education-6.5/10=A film that just didn't resonate with me. I didn't like the film's message of getting a post-secondary education being the most important thing in the world. The acting was very good though.

Awesome fight scenes, music, camerawork, and dialogue. Possibly Tarantino's 3rd best movie.

Yesterday I watched "From Noon till Three", it's a Western with Charles Bronson. I had never seen it before, it was quite an alright movie, I'd give it a 7/10.
It was a bit strange at times, especially the ending but still I liked it.

Sherlock Holmes - 9/10 -- Obviously it was not one of the best films of the decade, but I thought it was very well done. It had great twists and turns every now and then -- not serious plot changing twists but more how things led up to the ending, how scenes developed behind-the-scenes. I was very intrigued, and entered the movie with the intention of viewing an ok story with great acting, instead I saw great acting and a very good story.

People can diss it if they want, there was not much I would have changed. The special effects were used properly which has become an increasingly important factor for me lately. They didn't overuse technology and special effects but when they used them, they used them well. Breaking down things like fights was really interesting. Some camera angles during the fights could have been improved, but overall I was very pleased with the movie. I never even intended on seeing this movie in theaters, it was a spur of the moment thing with friends when other plans fell through yesterday afternoon; so I left the theater after spending like 8.50 on the ticket and like 10 bucks on food and drinks, and was very pleased.

There was a specific character I would have liked to have seen a bit more of and learned a bit more, but maybe they plan to use him in a sequel.

And I'll be honest, I hope they have a sequel.

I think the last one I saw was Paranormal Activity.

8.25/10, it was a pretty odd movie, but for some reason I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I just watched "The Departed". It's a very good movie, arguably the best Scorsese of the 2000's. So I give it a 8/10. But it's far from being as good as his best movies though, he won't ever do as good as his 70's, 80's movies. Masterpieces like "Taxi Driver", "Raging Bull", "Mean Street", "The King of Comedy", "After Hours", "Goodfellas", "New York, New York", etc.. will always remain as his best movies IMO.
Scorsese and the Coen Brothers are my favorite directors and one of the reason why the Coen are number one for me is because of that, because Scorsese is not as good as he used to be, still very good though don't get me wrong, but not as good. While the Coen are still doing masterpieces like "No Country for Old Men".

Just watched The Sum of all Fears with Morgan Freeman and Ben Affleck.
7/10 Decent movie. I like it because they actually detonate a bomb where 100 other movies just talk about it lol. But i think some of the acting is terrible. But the storyline and plot is very good.

Recently saw The Road, Whip It & Sherlock Holmes

The Road-10/10=A perfect adaptation of the novel. Everything about it was just adapted perfectly. That does mean, however, it does have the one minor problem the book had (the ending could have been a bit better). Viggo Mortensen had easily his best performance of his already acclaimed career. Late in the movie he has one of the best line readings I have ever seen in any movie. It is a shame he probably won't get an oscar nom for this performance and only has 1 for his entire career because he is one of the best method actors of this generation alongside Daniel Day-Lewis. Finally, be warned (you could probably assume this if you have read the book) the film is probably the darkest films I have ever seen (much of the film deals with suicide and canibalism).

Whip It-8/10=A lot better than I expected it to be. Ellen Page continues to show she is one of the best actresses out there. Her performance helps the movie get past the numerous cliches of the plot.

Sherlock Holmes=7/10=It was nothing special. There was nothing special about the acting (Downey Jr. had one of his weakest performances ever but his worst is better than most actors' best, Jude Law was wasted, and the actor of the villain was only okay). The story could have been great but they spent way too much time setting up the sequel. One thing that worked perfectly, however, was the choice of Guy Ritchie as director. His visual style was perfect for this movie.

Okay so I watched "The Dark Knight" yesterday and frankly I'd say that it is a good movie but definitely not as great as people think IMO. I prefer the Burton's Batmans without a doubt. And Heath Ledger is doing very good as the Joker, still I think that people overrate him because of his death. He's not that great. Jack Nicholson is the best Joker for sure. Well it was still quite a good movie, I'd say that it's the third best Batman IMO. The best are "Batman" and "Batman Returns" for me.

Anyhow I give it a 6.5/10.

I rewatched "Alien Resurrection" yesterday. I hadn't watched for quite some times. Quite a good movie but far from being as great as the first and true "Alien". For me it's the thrid best of the Alien series behing the great "Alien" so and "Alien 3". "Aliens" the second one, is the less good of them all IMO.

Anyway I give "Alien Resurrection" a 7.5/10.

Yesterday I watched "Lakeview Terrace". Not a great movie but it was alright. At least Samuel L. Jackson was great in it (as always).

5/10.

last movie I watched was Inglorious Bastards. Interesting movie, interesting plot, I just hate the idea of reading all these subtitles. I was however pleased that a lot of the speaking was in German or Italian which added realism to the movie, I just personally don't care for reading and watching for most of a movie. I found myself not noticing things on screen because i was reading the subtitles.

8/10 -- Very interesting film and I enjoy Tarantino films a lot because they just seem more creative than all the crap that is filmed now.

Heh. Yeah, Basterds could get a duel nomination for best picture AND best foreign film considering like 70% was in French or German. I have no problem reading subtitles, though. I rarely come across people who complain about them.

Inglourious Basterds didn't make the short list for Best Foreign Film but it will definitely get nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay and a bunch of tech awards...it could even get a Best Supporting Actress nomination

Yeah, I thought the acting from Laurent and Roth were pretty good. I wasn't crazy about Brad Pitt's acting in the movie, idk maybe it was just me.

I like seeing movies that are mostly in different languages, rather than seeing all the characters miraculously speaking English fluently despite taking place in a foreign country, so that part I was glad. I just personally don't like reading subtitles. Hard to explain -- I like that they used the subtitles because it makes it more realistic, I just personally don't like to read the subtitles... very hard to explain.

Absolutely this movies cast was excellent. I guess thats why they won best ensemble cast at SAG this year, people really loved the cast as a whole. Best supporting actor is already a lock for them I dont think Kruger can win best supporting actress. The rest absolutely they will be in the running, one of my favorite movies of the year.

I loved Brad Pitts role IMO, he was hilarious and played a confident leader. If I saw him anymore than I did then ya I would agree it would get a bit annoying, but he was in it for just the right amount of time, to keep that comedic slaughter thing comical.

But no one tops Christoph Waltz role as Hans Landa that guy was a badass villain, I walked out of that movie like "damn who the hell is that actor, he is ridiculously good throughout the entire movie."
