they just get everyone, don't they? :pity:
it's a good move, though. they could use a DH and someone to give Tex a rest at first occasionally. Astros are cleaning house - Oswalt and Berkman back to back days. those were like their two cornerstones. |

This is ridiculous. Why don't they trade for Prince Fielder too. Just have a team of first basemen

This is a great trade for the Yanks, either Cashman is a genius or Ed Wade needs to be fired. Or both. Astros are paying more than half his salary this year even after the trade, and lets be honest we got him basically for nothing, the Astros were just salary dumping. It's not like Mark Melancon and Jimmy Paredes are going to be future all-stars or anything. No offence.

Are half of you guys idiots?
No offense but this is not a good deal. Houston got all that they were gunna get for him. He's had an awful year, hence why Houston has been awful. The Yankees had bigger fish starting them in the face esspecially Adam Dunn. Could you imagine him hitting in Yankee stadium. Hitting under .250 with limited power from the left side. As a Sox fan I am happy this went down and not the Dunn deal. Not the Yankees needed either. Just saying it's really only a good deal for the Yanks in terms of what they gave up for a minimal power bat that's had a slumping year. |

Dunn would of course been better, but the Nationals asking price is way to high, and the Yankees obviously weren't interested in that asking price so they moved on. Also if I was you I would worry more about the Red Sox aren't doing to at least give them a shot at the wild card. |

Berkman was interviewed last night, and has already said he plans to return to the Astros after his contract ends.

You're the idiot, the Yankees got him for basically nothing, and the Astros are paying most of the salary. Anytime that happens, thats a good trade for the Yanks. I dont expect him back in pinstripes next year but the only thing this is going to do is further help the Yanks in their push for another championship. I kinda see him coming to the Yankees the way Hinske/Hairston helped us get #27. And I didn't expect the Yanks to get Dunn, either. I do think we need pitching/bullpen help though. But like I said, we got a 5 time all-star for basically nothing.

Lance has been hitting well this past month, he was struggling at the start but the Yankees are getting him at the perfect time.

So basically we get two decent minor league prospects for lending Berkman for a couple months in a hopeless season? Good lord when did the Astros learn to think?!

I didn't say you did lol. I'm just saying that even if he lives up to that and goes back to Houston, the Yankees will probably just sign someone even better.

This thread is precisely why I don't like Yankee fans.
It has nothing to do with you trading for championships or buying the best free agents. You guys always think that everything you do, particularly cashman is the best move ever. It just makes no sense. The team they have now is plenty good. The move for Wood was really good. That actually improved the team but Berkman is just another bat that they really don't need. And a loan at that. I would have much rather broke the bank for Dunn and threw some nice money his way for an extension, Im sure he would have loved to stay in the wiffle ball homerun derby Yankee Stadium. |
