When this website was started an angel in disguise a man called Nick hanuer helped him with the initial money and in no time a website for selling books was created to reap the benefits of the dot com boom.

The website was not flashy or with so many options as it looks today. Another business man Tom Alburg decided to invest another $100,000. This money was used in changing the complete look of the website. After some time Bezos realized the important of being diverse in the business, he realized if someone becomes a customer one time in order to retain him or make him a permanent customer the website requires something more.

The idea of book reviews and feedback was hence generated, which is considered to be one of the key reasons of the success of Amazon. The website was named so after the world’s largest river. Per its namesake, the website now caters to a large variety of customers with a broad category of products. In the year 1997 the company came with its initial public offering and was listed with the NASDAQ. Bezo claim that they have created a unique shopping experience for the online buyer which is very fulfilling and is up-to-date with technology. As per a recent survey Amazon has been rated as UK most favorite music and video retailer.

As would be with any other business life cycle, Amazon.com has also seen its ups n down, per a report after the burst of dot com boom the company saw its profit falling sharply. The website faced many privacy issues and was also criticized by few groups in UK about the data of the customers being traded to different countries where the privacy norms are not as strict as UK . With all the criticism and low revenue Amazon.com has still been able to receive best score in several customer satisfaction surveys. And with a great visionary Bezo as head of the company the Amazon has revived and sustain the slow down and competition.
