Jason Heyward to Undergo MRI on Thumb Monday

After Sunday’s loss to the Tigers, Bobby Cox said he wasn’t sure if rookie right fielder Jason Heyward would be able to play on Monday when the Braves took on the Nationals with Stephen Strasburg pitching.

After learning that Heyward will have an MRI on Monday afternoon, it seems less and less likely that the 20-year-old slugger will be available to start.

“As far as I know right now, nothing’s broken and there are no torn ligaments,” he said. “I’m not frustrated because I understand what it is. I think I would be frustrated if I don’t understand what’s going on, but I do understand what’s going on. I understand that it’s hard to hit without a hand. It’s hard to be active with anything without your thumbs.”

Yeah he hasn't been right for a few weeks or so now, getting back as close to 100 percent this season as he can is most important right now.
