Importance of personal computers:
Personal computers have become very much essential part of the society with people depending on them for several activities right from education or entertainment to business. The personal computers have inspired new companies, new industries and also created millionaires and billionaires. In recent years, residential ownership of personal computers has increased considerably all over the world. Nowadays, even in developing countries computer education at the school level is getting importance and children are taught to use computers at their primary level itself. This clearly shows the importance of personal computers in diversified domains.

Personal computers and uninterrupted power supply:
Most of us use computers to store important data and information and some even use them for doing online business, banking, purchase and sale of items, etc… But, most of us do not know how vulnerable is our computer and the data stored in our computer to electric current. The fluctuations in power supply might cause damage to your computer. Therefore, in order to protect our computer and the data stored in the computer from the powerful electric current, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) becomes very much essential.
UPS can be classified into two types they are standby UPS and continuous UPS. Both these types of UPS work in different way and they manage the flow of power in a different way as well.

Standby UPS:
A standby UPS allows your computer to get power supply directly and if any problem arises in the power supply the UPS acts quickly and launches a power inverter to deliver a balanced power supply from its internal battery. Here, the UPS changes the DC power of the battery into AC power.

Continuous UPS:
A continuous UPS maintains a permanent connection to your computer and it provides an unbroken power supply from its battery. At the same time, the battery of the UPS gets charged by the utility power supply. In case of power failure, the UPS continuous to provide power supply to the computer with the help of its charged battery. Like Standby UPS, in continuous UPS also changes the DC power of the battery into AC power.
