Grizzlies beat Spurs for series lead
![]() The Memphis Grizzlies held off the San Antonio Spurs in a nail biter Saturday, winning the game with a 91-88 final, taking a 2-1 series lead. The Grizzlies were led by Zach Randolph who scored his 25th point of the game on a clutch three-pointer that sealed the game with 41 seconds left that put Memphis up by five. The Spurs fought back in the fourth and eventually tying it up at 80-80 for 12 seconds before O.J. Mayo banged a three. The deficit for San Antonio was around ten most of the game with the Grizzlies playing great defense. Manu Ginobli scored a team high for the Spurs with 23, with Tim Duncan getting 13 points, 10 boards, and 6 assists. The key in the game was the Spurs going 2-15 from beyond the arc and only 41% from the field. The youth on Memphis outplayed the Spurs and held off their comeback late by making their shots. They were able to slow it down and play their game at the end and now have the series lead heading into game 4. I don't want to say it but the Spurs may finally be getting too old. We'll see if they can take the series away from Memphis but they won't have many years left to make it happen again. |
