Depends on why you need it. For gaming or to save money, desktop. Otherwise, I like laptops.

I have a desktop right now, but I hate moving from the couch to the computer whenever i'm watching a baseball game. I can't wait to buy a laptop once I move out.

I prefer my laptop, because I can take it pretty much anywhere I want.

However, for large files, I rather use my desktop.

I like desktops more because there's more stuff to get when you have it. Laptops are great too but unless you travel/move around a lot, it's pointless to have.

Laptop, it's a lot faster than my desktop and it's my personal one instead of the desktop which is a family computer.

I have a laptop but that's because I am in college. Much rather have a desktop. Much faster and you can do more things.

Wouldn't you need to carry a computer around in college though if you want your own personal computer?

My personal computer is an HP Pavilion dv6000. It is a pretty decent computer. I got it a little over 2 years ago and it still runs very fast.

I have 3 laptops (one is a work laptop) and I really like all 3 of them. But I also really like desktops because they are easier to upgrade and fix, where laptops are very limited in terms of upgradeability.

I have had both, both have good and bad.

Right now I rock the laptop, because I just got out of college, and it's nice to be able to bring my laptop anywhere to work on projects and such. Now that I'm done...it's just nice to be able to sit on the couch and watch TV with it.

Desktops are nice too though, easy to add on to it, take it apart and do work on it, usually get a little more bang for your buck.

Either way is good.

One thing that I really like about a laptop is how little space they take up and lack of clutter. I usually have my laptop sitting under my coffee table or in my laptop bag next to my chair.

That's a good point...it seems like no matter what you are doomed to take up all the space on the desk when you have a desktop computer.

And speakers, and more speakers, and printers and shit. And sometimes you even leave cups of leftover drinks sitting around. Oh yes. But it's all good since it's in my room.

Trust me when I say this. Just be very glad you don't own one. I just bought a laptop on Saturday (I am using it right now). I am really trying to get used to it, but I personally think that it the slowest thing ever. It takes me 500x longer to type than if I were using a regular computer.

Thumbs down

I always use a desktop because it's all we own. I'm getting a laptop for college though and I know typing is going to be really awkward for the first week or two. I feel like laptops in general are slower than desktops and I'd much rather work from a desktop than from a laptop.

I've been using laptops on my vacation and honestly desktops are so much better. the screens are usually bigger, have more space, and usually faster.

Laptops give you mobility. A lot of powerful laptops with wide screens are available in the market if you want a machine for gaming.
