Detriot's Verlander throws a no-hitter
![]() Facing the minimum number of batters against the Blue Jays on Saturday, the Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander was able to pitch the second no-hitter of his career. J.P. Arencibia was the only Toronto player to get on base, drawing a walk after 12 pitches against Verlander in the eight, only to get doubled off on the next batter. Justin Verlander impressively earned the no-hitter, striking out only four batters in the game. He had complete control of all his pitches, keeping every batter on their toes, trying to guess at his pitches. Verlander is only further cementing the fact that he is one of the best in baseball with his second no-no after his first no-hitter against the Brewers in 2007. This also starts the possible flood of pitching gems this season after all of the no-hitters and perfect games the last year or two. |
