Charl Schwartzel rallies to win Masters

In an unexpected Masters tournament that came down to the couple holes, Charl Schwartzel was the first Masters champion to win with four straight birdies. Shooting a final round 66 (-6) Schwartzel was able to jump out of the log jam at 10-under par.

Third round leader Rory McIlroy fell a part after a touchy start, allowing everyone behind him back in the hunt. Tiger Woods jumped on the chance, who jumped into the lead, making up a seven shot deficit to tie the lead. At one point in the afternoon there was a six-way tie for the lead at 10-under with names like Woods, Angel Cabrera, Adam Scott, Luke Donal, and Geoff Ogilvy.

Schwartzel was simply destined to take the green jacket after starting the day with a 75-foot chip in for birdie on the first hole and a hole-out from the fairway for eagle on the third. Finishing with birdies on the final four holes, Schwartzel was able to overtake the big names and snag the green jacket. It was a devastating Sunday for McIlroy, but allowed for the talented Charl Schwartzel to win his first major. McIlroy will have to take this as a learning experience because he will easily be back in contention for another major very soon. Keep your head up.
