Canucks advance
After a 3-0 series lead in the series the Vancouver Canucks would play the Chicago Blackhawks in a game 7, although the Canucks would come out of the game advancing to the second round.
Alex Burrows would have a lot to say about this game, and that is not with his mouth. Burrows actually would speak with his stick, and let that finish for him. In the opening period of the game, Burrows would score 2:43 into the game to give the Canucks a 1-0 lead. For nearly the whole game, many people thought the 1-0 score would end up being the final. That was all until Jonathan Toews would score a goal with 1:56 and that would come after being shorthanded. Toews had a 2-on-4 against the Canucks and would get a shot on net, Marian Hossa would miss the rebound opportunity but half down Toews would life the puck over Luongo and into the back of the net. Luongo would say that is why Toews is the leader of his team and the Conn Smythe winner, not many at all can do that. The start of the show however was Corey Crawford, the rookie goalie of the Chicago Blackhawks. He would make 36 saves against the highly offensive threatening Canucks. Crawford made plenty of highlight-reel saves. Including one where he was on the ground and lifted his glove only to rob a empty net. Toews would speak highly of the rookie, saying he was the one out there battling and playing the hardest. |
