Dodgers haven't named anyone

maybe we will get another crack at Schmidt...

"Right now, we're in the discussion area on that one," Torre said. "We're not at liberty to talk about it at this point. You'll know later on."



One possibility is that the Dodgers could be in the process of making a trade for a pitcher off waivers, thus the reason for Torre's silence on the issue. League rules state that teams cannot mention specific players placed on waivers.



"Could be somebody from the outside," Torre said, "we haven't decided on that."



He did say that it's doubtful that John Smoltz could suit up for the Dodgers on Sunday. The Red Sox released Smoltz on Friday.



There's also a chance that the starter could be a pitcher currently with the Dodgers. The most logical candidate in that scenario is Jeff Weaver, who's started five games this season.

Sorry guys, I won't be able to watch this game, doesn't come on a network provided by my cable company. So I figure I will start a game discussion thread so I can follow along.





The starters are



Javier Vasquez 4-0 2.80 ERA 34Ks and less than 1 base runner per inning in his last 5 starts.



vs.



Eric Stults 4-2 4.80 ERA 30K's 1.5 whip this season



Maybe this will give us a shot, although last night our lineup almost looked as if we were conceding a win. Maybe the Braves can jump out front early and big to keep this game from having the ability to be decided in the last inning.



We won't have Chipper until at least Tuesday, if not longer.
