Barcelona and Real Madrid pass Yankees as World's highest paid teams

In the United States when you think of the highest paid team overall you will think of the New York Yankees, although Barcelona and Real Madrid have passed them up and they play the sport of soccer.

There was a recent study done that would calculate how much each player would be earning each year, and when they calculated the two La Liga teams of Barcelona and Real Madrid they came up with a average of more than seven million dollars per player each year. Barcelona has the great Lionel Messi, and him alone makes $31 million by the year.

Then there is Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo who made a contract of $27.5 million annually which would push his contract one of the top paid soccer athletes. Let's not forget too that Real Madrid has Kaka who makes a large amount! When they truly averaged it out, Barcelona averages exactly $7.9 million per player, which Madrid averages $7.4 million per player.

The Yankees still do have guys that they pay on the high side, especially Alex Rodriguez who makes $32 million, CC Sabathia who makes $24.3 million and there's the gold glove first basemen Mark Teixeira getting paid $23.1 million.

Other teams to make this list would be the Lakers(#4), Magic(#5) and then there's the Red Sox and Patriots who would just slip in front of the top 12 list.
