Baltimore Orioles Reach Out to Buck Showalter

Quote:
Former Yankees, Diamondbacks and Rangers manager Buck Showalter, now an analyst with ESPN, has been contacted by the Baltimore Orioles about their managerial position, a source confirmed Wednesday.

Showalter is expected to meet with Orioles officials in less than a week. He had no comment on the matter.

The Orioles have interviewed former Indians manager Eric Wedge and former Rangers and Mets manager Bobby Valentine about the job, which is currently held by interim manager Juan Samuel.

It is unclear whether the Orioles, who fired Dave Trembley on June 4, plan to name a replacement this season, or wait until after the season so the new manager can start fresh. Andy MacPhail, the Orioles president of baseball operations, said the search for a manager could take all season.

Showalter, 54, is 882-833 as a major league manager. He was named manager of the year in 1994 with the Yankees, and in 2004 with the Rangers.

Well he's as good as any on the market I suppose. Unless they wait to see who gets fired this off-season.

I wouldn't mind Showalter, seems like every team he coaches wins the World Series after he gets fired
