Ardipithecus ramidus - hominin genus
Ok so pretty much part of Darwin's theory was thrown out the window with the discovery of Ardipithecus ramidus in 1994 which is about 4.4 million years old. I watched a special on Discovery Channel the other day that was about 2 hours long but was ground breaking for the scientific community. The find pretty much proves that Darwin saying that we evolved from apes was wrong, the bones proved we were our own species at the same time as the ape was living. We adapted and apes did not.
So what are your thoughts on the fact that Ardi "Ardipithecus ramidus" was 4.4 million years old? Kind of hard to fathom that. My wife said it was a boring special and was asleep 10 minutes into the special, but I think it really gets the brain juices going on the fact that we really are learning more about our past. Total surprise at the end was that a few years later they found other remains that carbon dated close to 1 million years older. |
