Andre Ethier extends streak
Andre Ethier has extended his hitting streak to 24 games now, and has the longest April hitting streak in MLB history. Yup.....the history of MLB. Pretty impressive way to start the season.
The last Dodger to have a streak this long was Paul Lo Duca's 25-game one in 2003. The longest streak in franchise history is Willie Davis' 31-game streak in 1969. So if Andre Ethier can hit safely in the next 8 games we will be witness to a piece of Dodger history. Ethier began his streak hitting .125 and his AVG is now at .381. Not too shabby! However he has a looooooong way to go before passing Joe DiMaggio's record of 56 consecutive games in 1941. Pete Rose hit in 44 consecutive games in 1978. That is the closest my generation has come to the record. |
