Allen's Three lifts Celtics of Knicks Late

Ray Allen did what he does best, hit the twine on the three-pointer coming off a screen with only 12 seconds left in the game, giving Boston the game one win against the Knicks, 87-85. Facing an upset to the Knicks in the their opening game, the Celtics only led for just a minute in the second half until Allen's three put them on top.

Paul Pierce attributed the come back to Boston's experienced roster that gave them the edge up on the Knicks in the clutch. The Celtics were able to know down the shots they needed to get back into the game. A few forced turnovers in the final minutes were the difference, including a big offensive foul by Carmelo Anthony with 20 second remaining and the Knicks leading 85-84.

The Knicks showed they could defend the Celtics offense and played a tough game, but were not able to control the game in the closing minutes. New York was cold from the field at the end of the game, struggling to maintain there lead. The turnovers gave the Celtics an opening and they took advantage, hitting their shots to take the first win at home.

The Celtics will need to get the lead early in this series, because they can;t count on Carmelo giving up the ball like he did. The Celtics and Knicks will play game two on Tuesday night in Boston.
