5 Years of Rafa

On this day in 2004 Rafa Benitez was named the new Liverpool FC manager.

Heres and article from the official Liverpool website saying a bit about what he's done in them 5 years.

ill tell you what Rafa has done for liverpool myself. He has won an F.A cup and a Champions League. he got to a champions league final but failed miserably. what a shame, he still hasnt won the League. He really blew those chances when he went off on a rant at Sir Alex. Seems like Sir Alex got into his head. Serves him right.

All correct mate except about the so called ''Rafa Rant'' that the United fans call it. It was actually Rafa trying to play mind games with Fergie, Fergie came back with some stupid comment, then Rafa went over the top calling Manchester United, then it went back and forth and the press made a big deal out of it.

It wasn't Ferguson getting to Rafa's head that lost us the league, it was the draws that we couldn't make into wins :)

lmao, it sounds like u believe whatever the papers conjure up lol

as if something like that had anything to do with it. there was no rafa rant, its just mind games and is a part of football. i cant believe there are still ppl who think that haha

No I don't believe what the papers says but Rafa did try and play mind games. Yeah some people still believe there was a 'rant' when there actually wasn't. I don't believe there was. :)

if you watched his press conference he was having a ‘rant’. talking about how united apparently disrespect referees and talking about so called ’facts’. rafas intentions were indeed to get into fergies head and distract him, miserably failed because he isnt intelligent enough to realise that fergie wins every mind game battle, with wenger, kevin keegan, mourinho and benitez. if i remember correctly liverpool drew three consecutive games after this press conference (one of these against stoke of all teams), this was putting pressure on his players. not a wise thing to do. Meanwhile fergie was being sensible, concentrating on football and not the oposition. Benitez was just being chilldish and finally paid the price by finishing without silverware. the whole rant was about how united asked to change a date of a fixture because of their champions league duties and then having to play a league game 48 hours before. it has nothing to fo with benitez, so why should he care? one fact that benitez can learn is that united have now equalled liverpools league record.
